An indicator that a safety device is failing will often be that the door does not lower. This may just need replacement batteries in a safety edge but it could be that a safety edge or safety beam has failed or gone out of adjustment.
Good quality roller doors will have a control unit to receive signals from hand transmitters, provide switching circuits to control the motor and manage impulses from safety devices. Some control units will also provide a fault diagnostic indication. It is not very often that a control unit needs replacing, often resetting and reprogramming will solve the problem.
